As the pressure to align with physicians grows, hospitals often focus on the tactics and details of these relationships. These details are crucial, but equally important is the attitude with which executives approach physicians. While hospitals have, at times and in some markets, been able to survive with adversarial relationships with physicians, it will be increasingly difficult to do. The best hospitals will work closely with physicians to serve the patients and manage care. And, to do that, they must create a culture that values those relationships, recognize the special expertise that physicians bring to the table, and leverage that expertise for the benefit of all. This presentation will review how strong hospitals address these issues and build a culture that supports physicians in this journey.
